How CITGARD and Mystik helped Frattalone move 2.6 cubic yards of earth in 2023

A leading civil construction company that has been operating for over fifty years, Frattalone Companies, Inc. delivers earthwork, demolition, underground utilities, and energy services to clients across the Midwest.

They understand that staying competitive begins with reducing maintenance costs. That’s why they rely on CITGO to deliver solutions that help them minimize the hourly cost to operate each of their more than 300 pieces of state-of-the-art heavy equipment. Relying on the proven performance of CITGO products, Frattalone moved over 2.6 cubic yards of earth in 2023.

Kory Kunza, Frattalone’s Equipment Superintendent, stated prior to switching they experienced lubrication problems in several areas, particularly with pin bushing wear. After meeting to discuss their equipment, operating environments and lubrication issues, the CITGO team returned with a custom lubrication program.

“They were able to take our grease back to their lab, test our existing grease for compatibility and performance. They came back and they suggested that we run the Mystik JT-6 Heavy Duty SynBlend 460. With engine oil, we decided to go with the CITGARD 700 Synthetic Blend 10W-30,” said Mr. Kunza.

When a test run of the products through several service intervals showed improvements in oxidation and soot with no change in oil consumption, they decided to implement the program throughout their fleet. When asked about the performance of CITGO products, CEO Tony Frattalone stated “We’re not getting the wear and tear we were getting in the past. Ever since we changed, we’ve been nothing but happy with the products we’re using.”
