The Life of Chuck Teaser Contains Multitudes, Including Tom Hiddleston’s American Accent

We finally have a real look at the upcoming Mike Flanagan film The Life of Chuck, which is an adaptation of a 2022 Stephen King novella of the same name.

The presumed premise of the film is the plot of King’s novella: A man named Chuck (played in the film by Tom Hiddleston) lives his life in reverse after his untimely death at age 39. It ends with him as a kid in his childhood haunted home.

The teaser Neon released today is very much that, but it does give us a glimpse at the vibes: bittersweet, soul-wrenching, and a sense of wonder about the universe and everything in it, including Chuck. We see glimpses of Chuck at different ages in the teaser, and it ends with Hiddleston as Chuck (in an American accent, no less) saying in a voiceover that “the universe is large, and it contains multitudes, but it also contains… me.”

Neon also released several first look images today, including two behind-the-scenes shots of Flanagan with Hiddleston and Benjamin Pajak, who plays a very young Chuck (the third version Chuck in the film is portrayed by Jacob Tremblay).

As you’d expect from Flanagan, the cast is stacked: in addition to the names above, the film stars Karen Gillan, Mark Hamill, David Dastmalchian, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Matthew Lillard, Molly C. Quinn, Samantha Sloyan, Harvey Guillén, Michael Trucco, and Carl Lumbly.

The Life of Chuck hits theaters sometime in June 2025, a bit later, it seems, than the previously announced May 30 premiere date.
