It’s not easy taking a selfie from bed. Issues can include unflattering angles, dropping the phone on your face, and achey arms. Not the case for Anne Hathaway, whose recent Instagram post found her looking enviably good against the backdrop of some perfectly plumped-up pillows. Her complexion was just as cushiony.
With her brunette hair spread across the pillows and a simple white robe on, Hathaway proved that bed selfies can be extremely flattering when done correctly. Wearing little-to-no make-up, she looked healthy and luminous, with a smattering of freckles and rosy flush on her lips and cheeks. This is a beautiful look to bookmark ahead of spring, when fresh skin is perennially on trend.
While we’re not all blessed with a flawless complexion like Anne’s, the beauty of make-up is that we can fake it. Look to lightweight tinted moisturizers or foundations—such as Dior’s new Forever Velvet Veil—and use your fingers to melt the formula into your skin, covering only the areas where you need it most.
For a similarly rosy flush on lips and cheeks, try The Body Shop’s Freestyle Multi-Tasking Colour pigments, which can be daubed onto cheeks and lips for a lit-from-within glow. Alternatively, we love Westman Atelier’s Baby Cheeks Blush Sticks for a dewy finish.
After that, all that’s left is to brush your brows into place and dig out your best bed linen, then you’re good to go, Anne Hathaway style.
