Eddie Marsan and Jamie Campbell Bower Join The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power

It would be nice, when new cast members are added to a show as sprawling as The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, to have some idea who they will be playing: Elves? Dwarves? Men? The Witch-king of Angmar? But Prime Video is, as ever, keeping such details secret (keep them safe!). All we know is this: Eddie Marsan and Jamie Campbell Bower are joining the show, Bower as a regular, and Marsan as a recurring character.

Bower is maybe best known for his role as Vecna in Stranger Things, though you may also remember him from Sweeney Todd, or The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, or one of three of the Twilight movies. He recently spoke about wanting to take a break from villain roles for a while, which may or may not tell us something about who he eventually plays on Rings of Power. (He’d make a good Nazgul, though, no?)

Eddie Marsan is, depending on your cinematic tastes, either a classic British “Hey, that guy!” character actor; the star of Mike Leigh’s Happy Go Lucky; Mr. Norrell from Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell (pictured above); or Terry from Ray Donovan. He’s also been in movies including Hobbs & Shaw and Atomic Blonde. He’s great in everything, and he’s often nearly unrecognizable.

The third season of The Rings of Power is currently in pre-production, and is expected to begin filming this spring. icon-paragraph-end
