Philadelphia Eagles fans are known for being committed to their team, and it appears they are just as committed to their romantic partners.
Jason Kelce got a front row seat to one devoted fan asking his girlfriend to marry him on Sunday, October 13, during the tailgate ahead of the Philadelphia Eagles and Cleveland Browns game.
A clip of the proposal was shared via X by the “New Heights” podcast, hosted by Kelce, 36, and his brother, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. “Jason didn’t see this one coming,” the caption read. “Congrats to the happy couple!”
The video shows the fan, clad in a green Eagles jersey, get down on one knee to propose to his girlfriend as they prepared to take a photo with Kelce.
As the unsuspecting woman went to pose with the former Eagles center, her boyfriend knelt down with a small box. Per the footage, it appeared the only person more surprised by the proposal than the fan’s girlfriend was Kelce himself.
Kelce looked shocked as he stepped away and the woman said yes. The crowd proceeded to cheer and start an Eagles chant.
Kelce is no stranger to an Eagles tailgate, previously attending several tailgates in September ahead of the NFL team’s game against the Atlanta Falcons. Videos shared via social media at the time showed the future Hall of Famer drinking beers, eating cheesesteaks and posing for pictures with fans.
While Kelce still attends the games for his former NFL team, he also makes sure to cheer on his brother, Travis, 35. Earlier this month, Jason and his wife, Kylie Kelce, attended the Chiefs October 7 game against the New Orleans Saints at Arrowhead Stadium. The couple shared a sweet kiss on the field ahead of the game, per a video posted via X. Post-smooch, Kylie, 32, was seen wiping something off Jason’s face.
At the time, Jason was wearing a headset for his appearance on ESPN’s Monday Night Countdown. Kylie, meanwhile, sported some “New Heights” merch: an “Alright Nah” t-shirt boasting Travis’ signature catchphrase.
Jason recently made headlines after he suggested a management shakeup for the New York Jets, who fired head coach Robert Saleh on Tuesday, October 8. On an episode of “New Heights” published one day later, Jason discussed the franchise’s conundrum.
“I don’t know that anybody’s taking that job this year,” Jason said on the Wednesday, October 9, episode. “It doesn’t matter who they hire as a head coach. The head coach is Aaron Rodgers. I don’t even know why they’re not even just not naming him in the head coach. I just want to see a player-coach.”
Travis agreed, saying, “I do too, man. I kinda want to see it.”
