Stepping out in New York this weekend, Holmes styled a look that was perfectly primed to tackle the inconsistent weather. Styling a cosy knit with a closed-toe shoe, Holme’s look was off to a practical start. Putting a stylish twist on her casual outfit, Holmes styled her autumn ensemble with the emerging skirt trend that’s got fashion people buzzing this sesaon.

Stocked at Prada, Zara and more, the pleated skirt trend is the elevated silhouette that fashion brands are backing right now. With the same flowy feeling as a light cotton shirt, the pleated skirt trend employs a cut that offers both volume and structure—making it a dynamic garment that can give your autumn/winter outfits an elevated energy.

Beyond the pavements of New York, the pleated skirt trend made recurring appearances across runway shows in September. Whilst Prada’s carabiner pleated skirt was a talking point amongst editors for weeks, the trend also appeared at Miu Miu, Burberry and Bottega Veneta last month. Already to set to continue its reign well in to spring next year, it’s no surprise that high street brands have also picked up on the key silhouette this month.
