Caitlin Clark is making plans with Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce amid their budding friendship.
One weekend before her interview with TIME, Clark, 22, attended two of Swift’s Eras Tour shows at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis where she met the pop star’s mom, Andrea, and the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, 35.
Clark recalled fans taking pictures of her in the suite and handing her friendship bracelets — and was surprised by the reaction she received from concertgoers.
“People are just going crazy that I’m there,” Clark recalled to the outlet in an interview published on Tuesday, December 10. “I thought people would be so in their own world, ready to see Taylor. And it was just completely the opposite.”
Per TIME, Swift, 34, gave Clark four bags of merchandise from her Eras Tour alongside a note that the WNBA player was “inspiring to watch from afar.”
“She said ‘Trav and I’ were excited to get to a Fever game now that the tour was winding down and invited Clark to attend a Chiefs game with her,” the outlet wrote.
Clark has been a longtime fan of the Chiefs, and the NFL team has returned the favor in supporting her. Before Clark and the University of Iowa women’s basketball team competed in the final four of the women’s 2024 tournament in April, the Chiefs backed the player.
“You cheered for us. Now it’s our turn! All of Chiefs Kingdom is rooting you on tonight, @caitlinclark22 🏀,” the official account wrote via Instagram at the time, while sharing a throwback photo of Clark as a child wearing Chiefs gear with pals.
Clark replied to the message with several flaming heart emojis. (Iowa ultimately beat the University of Connecticut but were defeated by South Carolina in the championship game. She was later drafted by the Fever.)
Clark’s stardom has transcended the basketball court. Two days before the WNBA Draft, Clark flew to New York City for Saturday Night Live for a cameo.
During the “Weekend Update” segment, Michael Che told Clark that he’d pass along a signed apron she gave him to his girlfriend and the basketball player quipped, “You don’t have a girlfriend, Michael.”
Clark told TIME on Tuesday that the joke, which received a large reaction from the crowd, was suggested by Jason Sudeikis.
With her increased fame, Clark told TIME on Tuesday that she now has an advance security squad. While recalling a fan asking her to sign a sonogram, she admitted, “There’s just so much weird stuff.”
